More of a hybrid of the two previous mods than anything, this mod combines totally new gameplay features with the classical Quake 4 look. What is done right now would be pretty much the same thing as if Nightdive studios decided to just fix the multiplayer and some bugs in System Shock 2. Here it is, the long awaited (and unlikely) sequel to Quake 4 Reborn. Sure these updates could be done for some preparation for console releases in the future but we aren’t looking at anything close to a remaster right now. Quake 4’s insider update goes to fix some of the original’s flaws, not to go out of it’s way to remaster the whole package (of which would be done as a separate release because publishers would want money). The Q4 Militia mod offers many things to Quake 4 players that will add some spice to your single and multiplayer action like vehicle tweaks, game modes and much, much more. It’s the same original audio just less compressed and more true to it’s original sound when originally produced. This mod is not to be confused with Doom 3 Reborn which is totally different. They're similar in theory, but they play quite a bit differently.

Quake IV is based on the Doom III engine, although it is apparent that Quake IV will be a superior modding platform thanks to iD and Raven's efforts in optimizing the netcode, adding vehicles, and general fixes made to the engine since Doom III's release. That is the case because remastered tracks are typically rerecorded and a bit different from the original so many people often end up preferring the original audio release. When music gets remastered in any way years after release, the intention is always to provide a separate version of an album/track (the remaster) that isn’t meant to replace what is widely considered the original but rather modernize or update it. That is not at all a good comparison to make.
